The Asian Section of Federacion Canina Internacional FCI Spain), the largest and most prestigious purebred dog registering club in the world, has laid the groundwork in its bid to broaden its membership base in the Asia Pacific continent. During its 2nd Plenary Conference held March 15, 2010 in Guangzhou, China, the Asian Section led by the Asian Kennel Club Union of the Philippines, Inc. (AKCUPI) had representatives from the Kennel Union of China (KUC), Sarawak Kennel Association (SKA), East Malaysia Dog Owners Association (EMDOA), Kennel Club of Myanmar (KCM), Korean Kennel Club (KKC), Kennel Club of Japan (KCJ), AKCUPI and Kennel Club Union of Asia (KCUA) close ranks and exchange views and experiences of their respective clubs as inputs to the two-year development program presented by Henry G. In keeping with one of its objectives to raise the standards of dog judging in the country and be abreast with its counterparts in the international community, the Asian Kennel Club Union of the Philippines, Inc. (AKCUPI) conducted a one-day seminar for aspiring judges last September 2009 at Max’s Restaurant at Tiendesitas, Ortigas Ave. cor E. Rodriguez Jr. Ave. (C-5), Pasig City.
Two of the highly respected and top-rate international judges of the American Kennel Club, Karen Wilson and Sydney Leblanc Good were on hand to pass on their wisdom, know how and experience to the participants through the different topics they tackled. The judges were fresh from adjudicating AKCUPI’s All-Breed Dog Show on the last weekend of August 2009.

Ms. Good, AKC’s Executive Field Representative, licensed professional handler, and licensed international judge has been with the club for 30 years. She was born into Dobermans, with her family breeding and showing acclaimed dogs of that breed on the East Coast. As a child, Sydney was very active in Junior Showmanship competition and exhibiting the Dobe puppies in Futurities and Sweepstakes and very active in local kennel club events
